چکیده

An extension of the GUMS user modelling module is described which includes multiple inheritance between user stereotypes, multiple top level nodes in a network to allow a range of dimensions on which the user can be classified, and rules to change the stereotypes of users. A method is described using Wizard of Oz studies and interviews to provide the information to populate this model for applications and to provide rules to recognise which stereotypes apply to users. The use of the method and the user modelling module are illustrated for a human computer interface which supports multi-modal dialogue. The resulting co-operative dialogue with this interface is compared with the facilities offered by more complex alternative modelling approaches. Keyword Codes: H.1.2; I.2.4; H.5.2

Multi-Party Quantum Dialogue with the Capability to Expand the Number of Users at Runtime

Quantum dialogue is a type of quantum communication in which users can simultaneously send messages to each other. The earliest instances of quantum dialogue protocols faced security problems such as information leakage and were vulnerable to intercept and resend attacks. Therefore, several protocols have been presented that try to solve these defects. Despite these improvements, the quantum di...

An Information-based Approach for Guiding Multi-Modal Human-Computer-Interaction

Much work has been done in dialogue mod-eling for spoken and multi-modal human-computer interaction. Problems can arise in situations that do not correspond to the dialogue model. For this reason, we propose information-centered dialogue processing in which the actions to be taken by the dialogue system are determined as a function of the information available in the discourse, the database and...

Multi-modal Dialogues as Natural User Interface for Automobile Environment

We are evolving into a mobile information age where information is expected to be accessed anywhere, anytime, wherever is needed. In this paper, we consider the issues of handling the problems of modality recognizer errors and consistency between multiple modality inputs for a multi-modal dialogue interface in the automobile environment. We describe our work on utterance verification and its ap...

Human-Machine Dialogue for Multi-Modal Decision Support Systems

In this paper we describe some of the research on multi-modal dialogue being performed in the Interactive Systems group at the Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence at the Naval Research Laboratory. Our concern with multi-modal interfaces arises from our past work in developing general-purpose natural language interfaces that can be applied to a variety of decision support...

Simple Timing for Probabilistic Multiparty Dialogue Management

We present ongoing work in multi-modal, multi-user dialogue management. We have developed a dialogue manager that can handle multiple human users for a game master robot and can simultaneously perceive its environment and perform actions. In this paper, we compare two different systems with a single user, one with this baseline functionality, and a timing-proactive system that can perform actio...
